Why do 10% of you read so much manga?

Rather eat strange plants.

Also in the health part all I can think about is avoiding the brain but it's unlikely in these days to have prions (mad cow desease and others).

But, that's in the case of if you're stuck in an ice box. In the instance that you're trapped on a deserted isle, .

I, probably, wouldn't starve if I got stranded somewhere as long as there were some animals, even worms, or plants/berries around and water. If it's a snow covered mountain...beats me, there probably wouldn't be any plants or animals so chances of survival are slim, who knows XD
Buuut...in this case scenario, I'd eat the body. Survival comes first. That person is already dead and won't care, but I can still survive.
I'd worry whether the person was healthy or had some disease or smt that I could get by eating the meat, but overall, immediate survival would win and I'd just hope that if I did get smt, it'd be curable later on.
I'd probably gag the whole time and have a difficult time keeping it down, but I'd eat. And if I were the dead one I wouldn't begrudge others for eating me if it means they can survive. I'd be dead either way.
Plus - cooking the meat properly will kill off most of the bacteria and what not, so it'd be safe to eat it in that regard.
Also, why are you people even wondering about eating the brain? That'd be the last thing I'd ever even think of eating. O.o
I'd just slice off some meat from leg or arm or smt...
I don't even eat animal brains or bone marrow, not mentioning human, that is just gross even to me...O.O I do have my limits, ya know? Unless...the brain was the only thing around...O.O

He was a very creepy guy. I dont know what happened to him...but... best case scenario is that he didnt become a serial killer.

On the other hand, the rugby team in the Andes DIDN'T have any vegetation, so it was kinda understandable that they resorted to eating their dead. However, the conclusion of that story suggests that if they'd attempted to descend the mountain sooner, fewer people would've died and no one would've had to eat anyone. In this case, their access to a one-way radio actually might've been detrimental. They were able to listen in to the search-and-rescue operations looking for them, so they thought that staying in one place was the best option, which it usually is; but, in this case, most of the search was being done from the air, and weather conditions in the mountains weren't ideal for that.
So, yeah, regardless of whether I knew anything specific about the plants, I'd try to eat the bark of trees and grass (also, plants means insects for protein) before eating a random dead person.

Anyways, how is there no hope of rescue in a "foreseeable future" if future exists? Perhaps if you were planning on suicide?
The philosophers of fire will always be around as long as the waters of faith exists.

Ditto. Am with you on this one.
Humans are best when we fight for our survival.
I would attempt to eat the plants in the area - if that does not work, I would cook the body and eat it. Survival and hunger.

One of humanity's greatest gifts is the extraordinary ability to think and learn. What, am I supposed to pretend that I'm not a capable person who can't learn about hunting or plants? Then that makes me an evolutionary dead-end and perhaps not even human.
If however you remove all food sources except for the dead corpse, then I leave the poll and condemn you for trying to create a twisted fantasy world that you call "hypothetical" that should never be allowed to exist in our world, and trying to challenge human morality for the sake of your morbid and twisted curiosity.

You do realize that you repeated the same argument for why people hate minority groups that demand reparations, welfare programs, and social justice, right?
» Rounin on December 23rd, 2020, 3:14am
As a member of a very small and insignificant ethnic minority, I think that minority groups DEMANDING welfare programs, social justice and reparations should do some scuba diving in an active volcano.
By the way, that still doesn't change the fact that the poll's scenario is extremely limiting and requires you to pretend that you're an invalid whose only options are eating the corpse or die.

That's not going to stop people from calling you a "white supremacist" (No, I am not joking).
That's the problem with a lot of hypotheticals. That's why I said "Kill them all" for the trolley problem several weeks back.
» kurotaito on December 23rd, 2020, 10:17am
Do you live in a country without universal or guaranteed healthcare? Just wondering if you have a complete concept of aid that you imagined when you said you despise it. Also can you define social justice & reparations for me, because I am doubting your knowledge on the nuance of those words & ideas as well.
» docdesanta on December 21st, 2020, 8:15pm
Plus I've eaten whatever's been left in the fridge or on the shelf long after they've expired just because I've felt a bit hungry. Being hopelessly famished would be another thing entirely.
» dreamer00013 on December 22nd, 2020, 4:58am
But that body would be my last option. I'd try fishing first and vegetation. Oh and... Bugs. Would probably resort to bugs first, most are edible after all.
» blackluna on December 23rd, 2020, 3:26am
If you were in the situation of some historical prisoners, such as those mentioned in Dante (I forget where in the Inferno), then the situation changes a bit. Starvation is the single biggest cause of cannibalism, as human history can attest, but it is not the only reaction. Personally, in that situation, I think I'd end up going for my own flesh or just get depressed and wither away. Hypotheticals are difficult.
